Duties
- Provide comprehensive prenatal, labor, and postpartum care to pregnant individuals
- Conduct physical examinations and assessments of pregnant individuals
- Monitor fetal development and maternal health throughout pregnancy
- Educate and counsel pregnant individuals on prenatal care, nutrition, and childbirth preparation
- Assist with labor and delivery, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and providing emotional support
- Perform newborn assessments and provide postpartum care to both the newborn and the mother
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records of patient interactions and progress
Skills
- Proficient in medical terminology related to obstetrics and gynecology
- Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiological systems related to pregnancy and childbirth
- Experience with sonography for fetal monitoring and assessment
- Ability to assess patients' conditions and make appropriate clinical judgments
- Skilled in medical documentation, including charting patient encounters and maintaining accurate records
- Knowledge of acute pain management techniques during labor and delivery
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems (e.g., eClinicalWorks)
- Proficient in suturing techniques for minor repairs as needed
