The primary duties for the incumbent will be to provide evidence-based services to Veterans; with a dedicated focus on webSTAIR coaching and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). The incumbent will focus on webSTAIR outreach, engagement and treatment for Veterans throughout the NCHCS, providing expert consultation to other staff regarding webSTAIR. The incumbent is also expected to play a vital role in the provision and expansion of DBT services at the Martinez campus. The remainder of the position will be to provide other clinical services in the Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP) as a member of the team, including intakes and short-term evidenced based psychotherapies. Care is provided in the clinic and also via telehealth.
Duties for the position may include but are not limited to:
- Works with Veterans, their families and interdisciplinary team members in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of treatment needs related to Veterans that present in crisis with psychiatric disorders, with particular regard to addressing situations related to risk of harm to self, others or grave disability.
- Develops individual safety plans.
- Responsible for reviewing all consults/referrals for Veterans requesting mental health services.
- Independently provides specialized services for complex patients with service delivery to include intake evaluation, DSM-V diagnostic assessments, psychotherapy and patient education.
- Attends regularly scheduled treatment team meetings to ensure efficiency and continuity of service delivery.
- Assist patients in the preparation of materials needed for applications to various agencies for entitlements.
- Ensures timely completion of all clinical charting and documentation required by the Medical Center or healthcare system as appropriate.
- Other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Full Time; Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.; Subject to change to meet the needs of the Agency

Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases
When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of existing pay, higher or unique qualifications, or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).
Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)
Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66

Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA
Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)
