Schneider Electric USA, Inc. seeks a Staff Application Engineer in Houston, TX.
Job Description: Integrate intelligent electronic devices in complex automation architectures. Prepare functional specification documents, manuals, and application notes. Design protection and control panels and develop schematics. Configurate Electrical SCADA systems, controllers, protection relays and communications equipment. Program automation applications. Design, configure, implement and troubleshoot IT networks including switches, routers, firewalls and cybersecurity features following IEC60139 standards for energy applications. Design, configure, implement and troubleshoot networks with the following protocols: Modbus, DNP 3.0, IEC61850, IEC60870-5-101 / 104. Prepare and implement plans for integration testing, factory acceptance and commissioning. Perform site acceptance testing and commissioning. Plan and implement training courses and presentations for internal and external customers. Help with reporting. Perform technical presentations at professional forums such as IEEE and CIGRE. Promote the best engineering practices, standardizations, work automation, quality system, planning and documentation. Position eligible for 100% remote work, reporting to manager at company worksite in Houston, TX. 35% domestic travel required to visit customers during project execution.
Qualifications:
Requirements: Position requires a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Electrical Engineering or related field and progressive, post-Bachelor’s experience (4 years with Master’s, 6 years with Bachelor’s) in application engineering or related occupation. Must have at least some experience with the following skills: Programming automation applications using C, C++, C#, VB, or Python; Configuring SCADA systems; Communication Protocols (IEC 61850, IEC 61131, Modbus TCP/IP, DNP3.0, IEC104, IEC101); Designing, configuring, implementing, and troubleshooting protection & control communication networks (RSTP, PRP, HSR, MRP); Protection relay protection settings, PSL, communication configuration (Schneider relays, SEL relays, Easergy relays); Schneider Electric Ecostruxure Power Automation system design, configuration, testing and commissioning; and Relay based ATO scheme design, configuration, testing and commissioning.
