Title: Estimator / Assistant Estimator (Residential Painting)
Position Summary – Northern Lights Painting is the largest and most renowned true high-end residential painting company the area. We are looking for an estimator and assistant estimator to add to our growing team. Which one are you the right fit for? The Assistant Estimator position requires no experience for a person with the right personality and work ethic. For the Estimator position a minimum of four years painting / estimating experience is required.

In both of these roles you’ll work with the Director of Sales on all the facets of estimating residential painting projects. You’ll be involved in collecting information on bidding opportunities, writing the estimate and scope sheets for the office.
Required Experience - While some experience working for a painting or construction company is a plus, it’s not required for the Assistant Estimator position, you bring your work ethnic and we’ll train you!, Applicants that would like to be considered for the Estimator position require experience in this field, as you will be expected to start at a higher level and be able to jump right into estimating and learn our systems. Specialized knowledge, skills, and experience:
- Working knowledge of Windows, MS Office, and QuickBooks. Experience with Smartsheet and T-sheets is a plus
- Excellent organizational skills

Duties
- Return phone calls and emails to prospective clients for all new leads as requested.
- Maintain database of all incoming estimate requests and status of all estimates
- Schedule and conduct site visits to obtain necessary information, take photographs, and make pricing recommendations as requested / necessary.
- Upload all photos to company server and maintain server database as necessary.
- Compile all necessary information (plans, specs, schedules, etc.) and maintain database on company server as necessary for all estimate requests based on plans.
- Complete takeoffs on all incoming building plans and specs, compile summaries of necessary information, and make pricing recommendations.
- Write and send estimates as necessary.
- Track status of sent estimates (declined, accepted, etc.)
- Update job information as necessary in system.
- Prepare scope sheets and job books for Field Managers and Crew Leaders as necessary. Review scope details in field as necessary / requested.
- Work with office and field to ensure that all necessary information (job colors, job scope, job budget, schedule, billing, etc.) is properly communicated.
- Work with Operations Manager, Business Manager, Field Managers, and Crew Leaders as necessary to ensure all additional work orders are properly tracked and billed.
- Work with Operations Manager, Field Managers, and Crew Leaders to continuously refine and disseminate production values.
- Assist Owner and Operations Manager as necessary.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the company’s reputation of integrity and professionalism by communicating with customers and employees in a positive, courteous, and professional manner.
- Be on time for all appointments, return emails and phone calls promptly, etc.
- Work the necessary hours per week so as to perform all duties and responsibilities in a timely manner.
- Effectively sell the company’s services to the customer in a competitive atmosphere.
- Help design and implement new company systems and processes to improve personal / company efficiency and profitability whenever necessary or possible. This includes researching and demoing new software.
- Work with Operations Manager, Field Managers, and Crew Leaders to learn prep and painting processes and production values.

- As this is a small business, this position will need to change / evolve based on company needs.
- The right candidate needs to remain flexible and be able to adapt to potential changes in their duties.
Additional Information
- Hours: 7:00 - 3:30, M-F (somewhat flexible - TBD)
- Compensation: Competitive, based on skills and experience.
