POSITION SUMMARY
The truss designer is responsible for designing truss systems for commercial and residential buildings. The truss designer will create layouts and drawings for floor and roof plans using Eagle, Apline, or other design software.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop, prepare, and coordinate plans, specifications, and design documents utilizing Alpine, AutoCAD, Revit, BIM360 and other drafting tools.
- Design and estimate roof and floor trusses for residential and commercial construction.
- Present design to leaders and/or the customer and discuss need for modifications or changes.
- Read and navigate blueprints to design roof trusses, floor trusses, and wall panels using the appropriate design software.
- Create accurate bids, and material and price list for customers in a timely manner.
- Work closely and in cooperation with sales and management personnel to coordinate deliveries of floor and roof trusses.
- Generate truss placement layouts and truss designs for final construction.
- Perform all other duties assigned and those that may be necessary to achieve company and departmental goals.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- General knowledge of construction industry, specifically, floor and truss design process.
- Ability to accurately tabulate loads and load transfer through a building.
- Proficient in Revit; BIM360 is a plus.
- Proficient in MS Office applications, Adobe Suite is a plus
- Strong technical, written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy/thoroughness of all work
- True desire to complete, lead, and manage projects.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associate degree in related field; 2 or more years of related experience and/or training
