JOB SUMMARY
The Quality Engineer is responsible for monitoring and improving the quality of our operational processes and outputs and working with managers and supervisors to implement quality measures. Ensure implementation and maintenance of company’s quality management system, audit core manufacturing processes, as well as the requirements of our customers, plan and document improved engineering workflows to achieve optimal yields and customer satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Under supervision administer and maintain the Quality Management System and ensure compliance to the AS9100 standard; including participation in customer and registrar audits.
- Conduct review of the quality system as management representative.
- Work toward preventative measures
- Manages the analysis, inspection, design, test, and/or integration to assure the quality of assigned product or component. Implement sampling procedures and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality data.
- Perform quality reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements, including drawings, shop travelers and company quality records.
- Responsible for working with Manufacturing to assure accuracy of shop travelers and manufacturing drawing layout.
- Documents data obtained during all quality assurance activities, consistent with company policies and procedures. Conducts process audits in all phases of manufacturing and inspection to confirm process is being accurately followed. Document best practices.
- Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during quality assurance activities. Work with manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain to solve problems.
- Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and provides recommended process improvements to management.
- Participate in evaluating future productivity and quality improvement programs (i.e. Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma, etc.).
- Prepare reports to communicate involvement and results of quality assurance activities.
- Prepares and presents technical and program information to team members and management.
- Maintains a working knowledge of government and industry quality assurance codes and standards.
- Conducts in-house training programs to assure all established quality policies are understood and followed. May assist in quality related training programs as required.
- Reviews and analyzes reports and information relating to scrap, rework, customer returns and defective material.
- Oversee AS9100 Internal Auditing Program and conduct audits.
- Participate in Engineering meetings and Production meetings as required.
- Aid in determining, defining, and communicating quality processes to organization.
- Initiate Engineering Change Requests (ECR) for quality related process improvements.
- Provide technical input on calibration requirements for equipment and critical systems in accordance with business strategies and quality requirements.
- Implement and maintain a life cycle approach to metrology equipment and support preventive maintenance, validation and critical system change control programs in accordance with requirements.
- Analyze and investigate the root cause of external and internal non-conforming products. Ensure that effective corrective measures are taken to preclude recurrence of deficiencies.
- Initiate and coordinate corrective and preventive actions and verifications
- Research and update the company’s ongoing compliance with statutory and regulatory protocols (e.g. REACH, ROHS, Conflict Minerals, and California Proposition 65)
SKILLS and ABILITIES
- Familiar with Visual ERP or any other ERP/MRP
- Familiar with Unipoint or other quality software
- Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Excellent troubleshooting skills
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequently changing dynamics
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited higher learning institution with studies in Industrial Systems Engineering with focus on quality or related field experience preferred
- at least 2 years’ experience in manufacturing
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Manufacturing/Warehouse environment where temperature ranges based on seasonal weather
- Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel, pull, and push with hands and arms, reach overhead, and talk or hear
- Frequently required to sit, stand, or walk
- Exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, odors, fumes, etc.
