Under the direction of the Director of Transportation & Transit, the purpose of this position is to administer responsible professional, technical, and administrative work for the Transportation/Traffic Operations program. The employee in this classification is responsible for ensuring adherence to, and compliance with, all applicable County, State, and Federal codes and regulatory requirements applicable to the work.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Transportation Systems Management & Operations Engineer to spearhead our efforts in revolutionizing transportation in Osceola County. Under the direction of the Executive Director of Transportation & Transit, this role is integral to our mission, focusing on a blend of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), signal retiming, advanced traffic operations design and studies, with a forward-thinking approach towards Integrated Corridor Management (ICM) programs and Connected Vehicles (CV)/Automated Vehicles (AV). The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of transportation systems management, from planning and design to building, inspecting, and integrating ITS networks and expanding multimodal alternative and mobility services. Envisioned outcomes include effectively monitoring and managing traffic flow, reducing travel times and congestion, providing alternate routes to travelers, minimizing the number of accidents, improving emergency response times, increasing productivity and return on investment, and ultimately saving lives. The employee in this classification is responsible for ensuring adherence to, and compliance with, all applicable County, State, and Federal codes and regulatory requirements applicable to the work.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.
Experience: Six (6) years of traffic engineering experience to include two (2) years of responsible supervisory experience with a governmental agency or competent traffic engineering consulting firm.
Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of Florida, or the ability to obtain licensure within six months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field. Experience in Connected Vehicles (CV)/Automated Vehicles (AV) initiatives.
Miscellaneous: Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s license.
