Old World Provisions is a 4-generation family owned New York specialty meat company located in Troy, NY. We make delicious meat and deli products for brands and retailers across the country. As we continue to grow, we have a need for new talent to complement our existing core team. Position Overview
The Maintenance Technician performs a variety of tasks to keep the equipment and facility in good operating condition. Supervises maintenance employees, solves problems with equipment, prepares budgets, and oversees the scheduling of maintenance work.
Accountabilities
Manage and update work orders, PM Programs and Inventory Controls.
Responsible for cost justifying, compiling specs., ordering, and overseeing installing new equipment.
Provides a safe work environment for employees.
Assisting heavily in the capital planning, proposals for expansions, the budgeting process, monitor expenditures and assists with cost improvement projects.
Recognizes and takes steps to resolve operating problems in order to minimize their impact on the operations.
Responsible for managing contractors while they are onsite to include human safety, food safety, and plant GMP requirements.
Cooperates with all departments to assure a coordinated work relationship exists at all times.
Maintain and improve upon record keeping ensuring that the info is current, correct, and complete.
Encourages suggestions from employees which will improve production, quality, safety and/or control costs of production.
Keeps senior management informed on operating and/or staffing problems which may require their attention or knowledge.
Develop and/or maintain the programs necessary to ensure all employees are properly trained in order to meet company objectives relating to human safety, product quality and safety, environmental compliance, human relations, and professional development.
Lead and participate in plant and corporate continuous improvement teams to promote facility growth and development.
Complete and supervise special projects and other duties as assigned.
Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
Responsible for Food Safety and Food Quality of MFI products.
Responsible for ensuring the Environmental policies and regulations are followed.
Responsible for the Property Protection Program, as it relates to our Emergency Response Plan.
In case of absence, job responsibilities will be covered by a qualified designee.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Minimum of 3-5 years of maintenance experience
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles preferred.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers/vendors, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
- Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, fractions, ratios.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables

Education:
- High school or equivalent (Preferred)
Experience:
- Mechanical knowledge: 2 years (Required)
- Maintenance: 2 years (Required)
- Electrical: 1 year (Preferred)
- Packaging equipment: 1 year (Preferred)
