Role
Reports to the AVP of Compliance and Security and works to support employee, departmental, and organizational compliance with all rules and regulations, including but not limited to, Bank Secrecy Act, USA PATRIOT Act, OFAC and consumer related regulations. Provides direction in compliance management and risk strategy activities to meet FSCU strategic, operational, reporting, and compliance objectives. Ensures the credit union risks are identified and assessed; then managed and mitigated to an acceptable tolerance level.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs job duties in accordance with the guidelines set forth in credit union bylaws and polices.
- Manages the daily activities of compliance related issues, fielding requests/calls from all business units of the credit union regarding Business accounts, Power of Attorneys, Deceased accounts, etc.
- Maintain knowledge related to industry events, trends and technology which may affect the credit union.
- Coordinates the credit union’s overall compliance with applicable rules, regulations, and statutory requirements; including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC, TILA, RESPA, HMDA, and USA Patriot Act. Provide insight, interpretation and guidance on regulatory issues to management and employees.
- Process, track, and manage receipt of garnishments and subpoenas while ensuring timely and accurate responses.
- Identify accounts due for escheatment based on individual state rules and laws to ensure funds are properly escheated by state-imposed deadlines.
- Assists in the development and administration of a comprehensive compliance program that ensures Family Security Credit Union is compliant with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations.
- Performs reviews of selected compliance process and functions to ensure efficiency.
- Establishes and assists in the maintenance of compliance procedures.
- Reviews the credit union programs, policies, and procedures. Analyzes and monitors program for compliance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Solid analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Attentive to detail and observant
- Intermediate PC knowledge and Microsoft Office skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- One to three years of experience in a financial institution in a compliance related field
- High degree of initiative, dependability, and ability to work with minimum supervision.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments, concurrent projects and organize workflow to meet deadlines.
- Project a positive and professional image through effective verbal and written communication.
- Good interpersonal skills to include being courteous, diplomatic, and tactful
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Business or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Extensive knowledge and experience with regulations, laws (federal and state), forms, etc., that are applicable to compliance within the financial industry.

- To maintain the confidentially of information in credit union matters.
- To ensure the credit union’s policies and procedures are compliant with laws and regulations.
- Respond to all voicemails and e-mails in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Ensure members are assisted in a professional manner within the time frame established by management.
- Assist credit union personnel with compliance and/or security related questions, issues and training, seeking senior management guidance when needed.
- To stay abreast of changes in rules and regulations and their impact on credit union policies and procedures.
- To maintain a low level of fraud related losses through employee awareness, prevention procedures, and recovery efforts.
- To serve as backup for Compliance and Security Department during the absence of the AVP of Compliance and Security.
