Job Title: Preschool Program Lead Teacher
Reports to: Senior Director of Early Education
East End House is a long-standing community center in the heart of East Cambridge. EEH has been serving it's community for almost 150 years, providing wrap-around services to all stakeholders. EEH childcare program has recently become a partner with the Cambridge Public Schools Preschool Program. Through this initiative, Cambridge is providing universal preschool to all 4-year-old Cambridge residents and a large number of 3-year-olds as well.
East End House is looking for an experienced and passionate educator to join our team and support our mission for high-quality early education.
Position Overview: The Lead Preschool Teacher is primarily responsible for ensuring excellence in classroom quality and curriculum implementation. The role involves working closely with classroom educators, focusing on curriculum development, classroom management and adherence to CPP, NAEYC and EEC standards.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Development and Implementation:
- Implement Creative Curriculum, ensuring alignment with CPP, NAEYC and EEC standards.
- Regularly assess with Teaching Strategies Gold and adjust the curriculum to incorporate innovative teaching methods and best practices.
- Work collaboratively with the other teachers in the classroom to create a system where all teachers in the classroom implement activities and complete assessments.
- Uses Ages and Stages tool to screen children, ensure activities are developmentally appropriate, and refer children for services if needed.
Classroom Quality and Management:
- Directly oversee classroom activities, ensuring they adhere to NAEYC and EEC quality standards.
- Work collaboratively with other teachers in the classroom to ensure high-quality education reflective of their developmental needs and interests.
- Provide hands-on support to educators for classroom management and teaching strategies.
- Conduct regular classroom assessments and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
- Ensure that EEC licensing and regulatory requirements are maintained at all times.
CPP Program Specifics:
- Ensure strict compliance with all CPP program requirements, focusing on classroom-level implementation.
- Coordinate with the Senior Director to align program goals with broader organizational objectives.
- Facilitate communication between educators and the Senior Director regarding CPP program updates and changes.
Educator Support and Development:
- Mentor and coach educators, focusing on enhancing classroom practices.
- Assist Senior Director with observations and evaluations of educators.
Parent and Community Engagement:
- Engage parents and caregivers in the CPP classrooms, focusing on their children's educational experiences.
- Collaborate with community partners to support CPP classroom initiatives.
- Complete parent conferences with CPP classroom families. Senior Director will coach and review what is shared with families before the meetings.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
- Experience as a Lead teacher in a preschool program.
- Strong understanding of CPP guidelines, NAEYC and EEC standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication and organizational skills.
Sarlary commensurate with education and experience. The starting salary for this position is 61,040 for applicants with a bachelor's degree and 65,340 with a master's degree.
