Overview
Our client is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to be responsible for financial analysis, reporting on individual research projects, development of analysis and reports, and projection of future award performance. Participates in monthly meetings with customers and reviews financial award portfolio on a consistent basis as required. The Senior Financial Analyst conducts comprehensive financial analysis, providing reports and tracking program planning and execution in support to the client component of the U.S. Military HIV Research Program (MHRP) as well as other awards supporting the mission of the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR).

Responsibilities
- Participates in the program kick-off, standing meetings and closeout meetings identifying and addressing program financial needs.
- Financial analysis includes burn rate analysis and reporting during the life-cycle of the award and personnel projections and effort of core personnel.
- Review of award financial status-portfolio monitoring.
- Forecasting and projecting with emphasis on awards closer to expiration.
- Formulates specific program report development and analysis.
- Advises Home Office contacts of any deficits or other financial issues of concern. Provides recommendations for follow-up actions.
- Creates a proactive approach to financial problem solving to mitigate payroll and other errors.
- Trains staff on financial issues central to our client and develop financial capacity of field staff.
- Performs monthly technical financial analysis of current expenses and projection trends to determine present and future financial performance of the program, the individual projects, and provides feedback to the MHRP HIV Senior Finance Manager as well as to other members of the MHRP/EIDB Finance team when required.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in a business-related discipline required.
- 6-8 years of relevant work-related experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of spreadsheet software and financial systems.
- Knowledge of creating pivot tables within Excel.
- Ability to structure and perform sophisticated financial projections and analyses.
- Ability to manage time and multiple tasks effectively.
- Ability to assimilate detailed information into the bigger picture.
- Sound business judgment to take appropriate actions.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with strong focus on customer service.
- Experience with budgets, expenses, spend, and portfolio management.
- Preferred experience in the medical industry or clinical studies.
Work Environment
- This position will take place primarily in an office environment.
