Headquartered in Downtown Houston, the Golden Pass LNG organization expects to double in size over the next several years as we complete the project, commence natural gas trading activities, and ramp up towards full LNG production. Once full operations commence, Golden Pass LNG will become the second largest consumer of natural gas in the US and produce more than 200 cargos of LNG per annum.
Job Summary / Purpose
The primary responsibility of the Indirect Tax Manager is to support the Tax Director in leading the company’s effective tax planning, reporting, and compliance. Reporting into the Tax Director, the Indirect Tax Manager will be responsible for a variety of aspects in the tax area and will assist the Tax Director in leading a team of third party support team members in delivering timely, compliant optimized tax services on behalf of Golden Pass LNG and Golden Pass Pipeline. The Indirect Tax Manager will collaborate with various stakeholders across various departments.
Essential Duties / Functions
1. Manage all aspects of indirect federal and state tax functions.
2. Oversees sales and use tax reporting, compliance and planning. Coordinates with various functions as appropriate. Work with and oversees activities of sales tax consultants and contract staff including identifying and implementing process improvements.
3. Ensure property tax reporting and abatement agreement compliance with relevant jurisdictions as well as reviewing and addressing items related to annual assessments. Work with and oversee activities of external property tax firm.
4. Support shareholders and related reporting requirements and strive to align shareholder/company tax objectives.
5. Manage data preparation and documentation for tax audits, using statutory, regulatory or judicial authority to support the company’s position on issues arising during a tax audit.
6. Partner with other functions to identify and advise management on tax opportunities/risks.
7. Act as business partner for tax issues and advise the business on the latest tax rules, their implications and appropriate application to Golden Pass.
8. Responsible for preparing annual budget for relevant taxes and ensuring accurate reporting for U.S. GAAP purposes.
9. Fully supports company goals of continuous improvement and operational excellence including reviewing area of responsibility for improvement opportunities.
10. Ensure function’s processes, controls, and documentation are properly documented and followed.
11. Engage in the effective evaluation, selection and implementation of relevant software solutions supporting the Indirect Tax initiatives
12. Special projects as needed.
