That's why we're seeking a dedicated Payroll Specialist to join our team and contribute to the seamless operation of our payroll services.
As a Payroll Specialist, you will be essential in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing. Working closely with each Department/Office in the County, you will handle all aspects of payroll administration, from data entry and processing to tax compliance and reporting. Your attention to detail and commitment to accuracy will be critical in maintaining our payroll records and resolving any discrepancies or issues that may arise.
The payroll team processes personnel actions, such as hires, promotions, transfers, and terminations, and ensures the accuracy and processing of earnings and deductions. The team works closely with benefits, finance, and risk management teams.
Responsibilities
Specifically, this position:
- Coaches, trains, and provides service and direction to payroll representatives of all County Departments/Offices.
- Reviews and evaluates accuracy of payroll data received from payroll representatives. Provides alternatives or corrections to inaccurate information.
- Performs all aspects of the County payroll processes; pulling time, completing verification reports, payroll changes, corrections, funds transfer, and gross to net. Corrects errors when necessary to ensure accuracy of payroll within assigned time frame.
- Processes and reviews employee payroll changes including, but not limited to, new hires, reclassified employees, promotions, transfers, salary changes, terminations, payouts, and deductions.
- Analyzes and troubleshoots payroll system errors and work with appropriate staff and/or vendor to make corrections to the system when necessary. Includes submitting and managing cases in the HRIS.

Qualifications
All candidates will be screened for the following required minimum qualifications. Any candidate who does not meet all of the qualifications listed as required will be eliminated from the process.
Three (3) years of experience in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities required.

Human Resources is a hybrid Department. We work both remotely and in the office. Employees should expect to be in the office at least two days a week and work other days from home. Additionally, in-office days are required for team and office activities. Our office hours are 8:00-4:30, with reasonably flexible start and end times.
An offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of required pre-employment testing.
