Mechanical Engineer
We are seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer to design and develop new electronic products up to full production. This includes specification reviews, development program timelines and reports, design reviews, simple mechanical designs, documentation packages, preproduction builds and transfers to production. You must be technically minded, able to demonstrate numerical and scientific ability and have problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities:
- Confer with engineers, customers, and others to discuss existing or potential engineering projects and products.
- Operate computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
- Prepare specifications for purchase of materials and equipment.
- Investigate and test vendors' and competitors' products.
- Prepare and study technical drawings, specifications of electrical systems to ensure that products conform to standards and customer requirements.
- Investigate customer or public complaints, determine nature and extent of problem, and recommend remedial measures.
- Compile data and write reports/test procedures regarding existing and potential engineering studies and projects.
- Provide technical direction, serves as a point of contact or business liaison, prepares briefings for senior management, and assists in problem resolution specific to the program/project.
- Design and test electronic products.
- Participate in project teams and all activities related to the development of new products.
- Ensure designs are in compliance with requirements for government contracts.
- Provide technical support to suppliers in Asia (travel to factories, if needed)
- Review and provide feedback on the mechanical design and tooling design generated by the suppliers.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electromechanical Engineering.
- Minimum of two years of experience in mechanical design with electronic circuit technology assembly processes (analog, digital and/or high voltage design).
- Experience in design, repair and analysis of electronic systems including using plastic/silicon-based products.
- Experience with plastics injection molding and Ultra sonic welding - desired
- Solidworks experience is a MUST.
- Experience designing products that meet MIL-810G standards.
- Experience with DFMEA and design tolerance analysis
- Ability to travel overseas to resolve critical issues.
- Exposure to electromechanical engineering design principles and methodologies.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, (Word, Excel, Outlook) software design and development systems software and Internet Explorer browser software.
- Strong technical knowledge of telecommunications, network, and PC operating systems.
