GENERAL SUMMARY
Assists the Health Information Management and Privacy Officer in a variety of functions relating to health/medical records systems. In Managers absence, signs subpoenas / writ of commitment and attends and serves as a liaison / custodian of record for court. Serves as the subject matter expert in document imaging training all Medical Imaging Technicians.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Assesses needs of staff and provide training and coaching as required to implement policies and procedures.
- Assists auditors with document requests from clinics.

Assists in development and revision of forms, policies and procedures.
- Assists with conducting training for all levels of staff in the areas of health information, including HIPAA and confidentiality.

Attends and conducts meetings.
- Attends court in response to subpoenas/court orders and serves as liaison with release of information contract staff regarding release of health information issues in the absence of the Director of Health Information and Chief Privacy Officer, or as designated/required
- Ensures coverage for completion of health information management/medical records activities; prioritizes assigned work.

Prepares reports and monitors efficiencies and deficiencies of health information or medical records systems.

Responds to and sends communications using agency issued cell phone or mobile device.

Responds to inquiries and requests from internal and external staff regarding consumer records or health information.

Serves as a back up to all health information management positions, at any location, as required.

Takes a leadership role in scanning, retrieving, collecting, tracking, and auditing records.
- Works collaboratively with all staff and participates on teams or workgroups.

Works in multiple EMR and other electronic systems.
- Works on special projects assigned by supervisor.
- Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM ENTRANCE QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
-
High School Diploma or GED equivalency is required.

At least one (1) year experience working with an electronic medical record (EMR) system.

At least one (1) year experience working with Document Management Systems.

Other Requirements

Must maintain a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance coverage, be able to travel as needed, and be able to meet on a consistent basis the driving record requirements of the Company’s auto insurance carrier if you drive your vehicle during company business.

Must maintain required credentials and mandatory training requirements to ensure compliance with all State regulations and CHCS policies.

Must be able to meet the physical requirements to complete Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) and CPR training including lifting up to 12 lbs. and supporting up to 55 lbs.; bending, stooping and getting on and off the floor without assistance.

Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) is a proven safe and harm-free method of behavior modification. All consumer-facing employees of CHCS must take NCI courses facilitated by the CHCS Training team within the first 45 days of employment.
- NCI is intended to support human service professionals in giving aggressive, disruptive, or out-of-control people the best care and welfare possible, even in the most violent situation.
- NCI training provides staff with the skills to safely recognize and respond to everyday crisis situations that may involve more challenging behaviors. It focuses on prevention and offers proven strategies for safely defusing anxious, hostile or violent behavior at the earliest possible stage.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Associate’s Degree in Health Information Technology or a related health care field from an accredited university.

RHIA management certification is preferred.
