Job Summary
The VP of Accounting takes responsibility for strategic planning and tactical implementation of accounting and finance processes and procedures, preparation of internal and external financial reporting, and budget, trend, and opportunity analysis. They are to act as Treasurer for banking, cash flow and investment considerations. They oversee the interviewing, selecting, training and evaluating the leaders and key members of the Accounting and Finance team.
Partial List of Duties / Responsibilities
- Implement system for general accounting, accounting control procedures and the financial process as a whole.
- Oversee the cash flow including the payments of payroll and related taxes, monthly credit card payments and sales tax payments. Transfer monies between the checking account, the interest- bearing account and the line of credit to minimize interest expense and maximize interest income.
- Prepare the balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize and interpret the company’s current and projected financial position for the President.
- Compile and analyze financial information and prepare general ledger account entries. Determine proper handling of financial transactions and approve transactions within designated limits.
- Monitor compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Company procedures.
- Create and maintain a capital expenditure policy, fixed asset list and depreciation schedules.
- Oversee and manage all accounting employees.
- Prepare, coordinate, and implement the establishment of the annual budget.
- Make recommendations regarding the accounting of reserves, assets, and expenditures.
- Appraise the organizations financial positions and issue periodic reports on the organization’s financial stability, liquidity, and growth.
- Direct and analyze studies of general economic, business, and financial conditions and their impact on the organization’s policies and operations.
- Manages communication, preparation, and support of all external audits.
- Team with Executive staff to ensure success for the entire organization.
- Provide regular communication to the President to keep President abreast of all company issues from the point of view of the VP of Accounting.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from an accredited university and ten years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Expert knowledge of GAAP, accounting practices, procedures, and regulations
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical information, financial reports and legal inquiries or complaints from Clients, regulatory agencies, etc.
- Ability to effectively present information to Management and public groups.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.

Pay: $125,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
