JOB
Serves as a senior deckhand aboard U.S. Coast Guard inspected passenger vessels owned and operated by the Town of Greenwich providing passenger, cargo and cruise services with an emphasis on safety and customer service. Position requires high degree of concentration and focus throughout the shift.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Personnel must be at least 16 years of age and be able to pass an annual swim test, and are subject to both mandatory pre-employment and random drug testing per the United States Coast Guard during the time of their employment. Individuals must be able to take orders, carry them out and work with the general public. Individuals will also be required to do heavy physical work such as, but not limited to: raising and lowering of gangways, lifting of boat ramps, transport of fuel drums, cargo, garbage etc. Priority in hiring will be given to those applicants who can commit to a full season. All hires will be expected to work weekends and holidays, and extended time off during the season will not be granted.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
All outside candidates will be required to undertake and successfully pass a pre-employment medical examination, which includes a substance abuse test that includes testing for THC (the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana), given at the Town's expense prior to employment if conditionally offered a part time, full time or safety sensitive position.
