Major Food Group (the powerhouse restaurant group behind Carbone, THE GRILL, Sadelle’s and more) is hiring an experienced Assistant Controller to join our team!

Assist in developing and maintaining timely and accurate financial statements.

Support the management of cash flow and preparation of cash flow forecasts in accordance with policy.

Aggregate store sales and assist in sending daily flash reports to ownership.

Assist in identifying and measuring metrics and KPIs to help improve financial performance.

Aid in compiling weekly sales forecasts and results for store managers and participate in weekly reviews.

Collaborate with the purchasing department to help control food and beverage costs.

Work with the payroll department to audit weekly tips and hourly wages.
-
Monitor departmental spending to ensure proper purchase approvals and manage spending limits.
-
Ensure that financial reports, budgets, forecasts, and other information are accurately compiled and submitted within the specified time limits.

Review general ledger details for operating and balance sheet accuracy.

Monitor restaurant revenue and expenses to ensure accurate recording in accordance with GAAP.

Assist in performing balance sheet reconciliations; research and analyze findings to ensure account accuracy.

Document and maintain complete and accurate supporting information for all financial transactions.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Controller or Chief Financial Officer.
Job Requirements:
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.

A minimum of 4 years of related progressive experience in Accounting or related field; or a 4-year college degree with an Accounting/Finance concentration and a minimum of 3 years of related progressive experience.

Experience in a supervisory or team lead role.

Experience with Restaurant365 Accounting Software is a plus.

Familiarity with month-end closing processes.

Experience with the preparation of multi-unit/multi-department financial statements.

Experience with budget preparation.

Proficient in the use of Excel Spreadsheets – including macros, pivot tables, and vlookups.
