Position Summary and Overview
The Churchill School & Center, a K-12 school for students with language-based learning disabilities, is seeking an upper school assistant English teacher for the 2024-25 academic year.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
● Demonstrate commitment to Churchill’s mission and core values
● Embrace and model Churchill’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
● Plan curriculum, lessons, and assignments/projects that reflect a diversity of voices and points of view
● Collaborate with co-teacher
● Develop critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and tools for students to become independent, college-bound learners
● Break down/scaffold of in-class assignments and projects
● Grade student work and participation
● Track students’ work and progress
● Serve as an advisor to a small group of students
● Communicate with Student families as needed
● Attend relevant staff meetings as required
● Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have...
● BA or BS Degree in English, English Education, Special Education or related field
● Knowledge of, or willingness to continue higher levels of education to obtain knowledge of effective service strategies and methodologies for working with children with language-based learning disabilities ● Familiarity with Smartboards, Google Drive, and technology
● Interest in professional career development in the field of special education
● Patience, flexibility, good organization skills, and a sense of humor
Compensation
● $45,000 - $53,000 commensurate with experience
