Laborer
Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY: A Laborer is responsible for safely and efficiently performing general labor duties at a hauling company, transfer station, recycling center or landfill.
Responsibilities may include such things as yard clean-up, fueling vehicles and equipment, general vehicle operation, general office maintenance and other related duties.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Safely and efficiently perform assigned responsibilities to include such duties as:
- Clean up work areas;
- Fuel vehicles and equipment;
- Clean track on track type and related equipment;
- Perform yard work, including mowing and paper pick up;
- Operate general site vehicles and equipment, such as water trucks, pick up trucks, sweepers, mowers, trimming equipment, etc.;
- Perform general office maintenance and repairs, including painting and janitorial work;
- Install temporary wind fences, as required;
- Direct traffic at the site as necessary; and
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

- Good customer services skills to meet and exceed customer expectations; acts in a professional, courteous and cooperative manner toward customers and co-workers; works with a sense of honesty and trustworthiness.
- Good time management skills to ensure assigned responsibilities are completed in an efficient and safe manner.
- Good follow through ability; ability to adhere to work schedule and follows through on challenges as they arise.
- Ability to adhere to Company policies and rules set forth; promotes the Company’s safety standards; does not take inappropriate risks.
- Maintains a feeling of pride in work; strives to achieve all goals.
- High School diploma or GED.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- One year of prior experience working at sites regulated by OSHA.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to stand, walk, safely mount and dismount equipment, use hands and fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, climb, balance, and smell.
- Visual requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus due to the constant maneuvering of vehicle in tight and high traffic areas.
- Ability to regularly lift/move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift/move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift/move up to 100 pounds.
- Sitting may be required up to 75% of the time due to the primary function of driving.
- Ability to work in usually loud conditions.
