Job Summary
As the Reliability Engineer here at Xponent Power you will support the qualification of Xponent’s custom and innovative system and its components. This role will focus on ensuring the reliability and performance of our complex electromechanical systems through rigorous testing, analysis, and implementation of reliability engineering principles. The Reliability and Testing Engineer will work closely with the Design Engineers and Manufacturing Quality Manager ensuring that our products meet or exceed customer expectations. The candidate will be a key stakeholder among all teams to provide expertise for various aspects of quality and reliability.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive reliability testing protocols for complex electromechanical systems
- Plan and execute Accelerated Life Testing (ALT), including Highly Accelerated Life Testing (HALT) and Highly Accelerated Stress Screening (HASS) of mechanical and electrical components
- Run mechanical, loading, vibration, environmental cycling, environmental exposure, Ingress Protection, electrical, and mechanical loading tests on various materials, equipment, components, and the system.
- Apply Weibull Analysis for life data analysis, reliability prediction, and maintenance planning
- Develop and implement data acquisition systems for reliability testing
- Develop wind and vehicle testing procedures for automotive and heavy equipment applications
- Set up and process data from IoT hardware, sensors, and measurement systems.
- Present test results in the form of test reports, presentations, or technical discussions
- Perform reliability modeling, statistical-based sampling and analysis, hazard analysis, risk assessment, FMEA, Root Cause Analysis, fault modeling, and physics of failure analysis
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards such as IEC, UL, or MIL spec
- Collaborate with design, engineering, and production teams to integrate reliability considerations into product designs and manufacturing processes
- Analyze test data and generate detailed reports, providing recommendations for design and process improvements
- Monitor field performance data and customer feedback to identify trends and drive continuous improvement efforts
- Develop and maintain documentation for testing procedures, test results, and reliability analyses
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing or Solar Energy
- Minimum 5 years with technical work and/or engineering support in energy, manufacturing, and/or battery storage
- Proficiency in reliability analysis software (e.g., ReliaSoft, Minitab).
- Advanced skills in data analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB, Python, R)
- Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD)
- Knowledge of standards and regulations related to product reliability (e.g., MIL-STD-810, IEC, UL, IPC).
- Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE), desired
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt, optional
- Relevant IPC certifications (e.g., IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620), desired
Work Environment:
- Ability to safely work in a laboratory and outdoor workspace, push/pull/lift tools and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to walk, climb, and stand extensively during the workday and general knowledge of and experience with the use of equipment, hardware, hand, and power tools.
- Strong leadership and communication, and ability to meet deadlines
- Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables
- Ability to multi-task, while working independently and as part of a team
- Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities

- Primarily an office environment; Occasional visits to a field environment are required
