The Electrical Designer/Drafter is responsible for design and drafting of industrial and utility electrical design projects. This work can include, but is not limited to, the development of one-lines, schematics, panel design, physical design plans such as conduit and duct bank plans, grounding plans, lighting plans, cable and connection plans as well as detailed material take-offs and bills of material.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Possess and maintain broad and in-depth knowledge of principles, practices, procedures, and standards related to electrical, instrumentation, controls, and automation systems and associated design efforts.
· Work with engineering team to develop project deliverables as determined by project scope and requirements following applicable codes and standards (NEC, ISA, IES, etc.)
· Follow company standards and procedures. Demonstrated ability to identify problems and work creatively in a team environment to resolve them, considering the impact on the client and internal company resources
· Basic calculations as required for conduit, wire, cable, and cable tray sizing as required for project design
· Effectively design and layout control panels according to engineering supplied components utilizing best industry practices, client standards, and code requirements
· Appropriate use of client standards and blocks to develop design deliverables in accordance with client and industry standards
· Ability to interface with external and internal clients as required to complete project requirements
· Ability to work within time and schedule constraints to ensure project deliverables are completed within scope, budget, and quality standards
· Acquire field data necessary to prepare the appropriate design
· Develop and coordinate the incorporation of design review red-lines with drafting support staff
· Effectively communicate with engineering staff and other disciplines to ensure the accurate design of electrical systems and equipment requirements.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Associates Degree in drafting from an accredited curriculum or equivalent and 7+ years of experience. Managerial or lead experience preferred
