Responsibilities
Ready to make an impact? Peraton seeks a highly adaptable, self-starting
Senior Systems Engineer with proficiency in satellite ground station operations. In this role, you will work with the Peraton System Engineering team and Satellite deployment teams to integrate applications and capabilities into ground station operations.
Work will include technical planning to evaluate and develop integration timelines for deploying applications into an AWS Cloud environment. Integration activities will be implemented using the SAFe Agile methodology. This will require the candidate to work with the Agile team to plan, implement and demonstrate capability in an ongoing basis per the Agile Sprint cycles. Candidate will have the ability to communicate and present engineering concepts to the program team.
What you'll do:
The Senior Systems Engineer/Systems Administrator will be responsible for the following but not limited to:
- Work with satellite system engineers to integrate applications and capabilities into Ground Station Operations
- Apply system administration expertise and DevSecOps practices in support of integration efforts in the AWS Cloud Environment
- Support will require interaction with senior program managers and customers on system operations
- Provide Tier 3 Help Desk Support
Qualifications
Required Qualification:
- An active TS/SCI clearance with Poly
- Bachelor's Degree with 8+ years of related experience; Master's Degree with eight 6+ years of related experience; PhD with five 3+ years of related experience. In lieu of degree, equivalent years of related experience will be considered.
- Valid/current Security+ certification or be able to attain Security+ certification within 60 days of on-boarding to obtain Privileged User Access
- Demonstrated system engineering experience with the ability to perform Linux system administration, networking and authentication as needed
- Demonstrated experience with SAFe agile software development, Cloud DevSecOps practices and short release cycles
- Minimum of 5+ years' experience with AWS services such as Elastic Cloud Compute (EC2), Simple Storage Service (S3), Relational Database Service (RDS), Networking / Private Subnets, Bucket Policies and Load Balancers
- Experience with at least one of the following Infrastructure as Code (IaC) technologies: Terraform, Ansible, Chef or Git (BitBucket)
- Experience with tier 3 Help desk support
- Ability to communicate engineering concepts to customers and teammates
Desired Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5+ years' experience working with Kubernetes and use of Helm Chart, Rancher, or Argo CD tools
- Experience with any of the following IaC technologies: Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Git (BitBucket) and Jira
- In addition to the required AWS services, the following AWS security services would be desired: Security Groups, Identity and Access Management (IAM) roles and policies
- Operating System Experience in Linux ( Lightweight Directory Access Protocol / LDAP; A pplication Hosting such as Apache NiFi, CKAN Data Management System, ActiveMQ message solutions); OR Windows Server - Systems Administration, Group Policy, Security Groups, PowerShell ( Scripting, AWS Command Line Interface / CLI, AWS PowerShell modules)

Target Salary Range
$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
