AASK’s foster care, adoption, and mentoring programs provide families with multiple opportunities to make a significant difference in the lives of Arizona’s foster care children. The role of the Post Permamency Family therapist is to work with families who are growing through the Wendy's Wonderful Kids program. The right candidate will support all current and alum WWK families to provide system advocacy, psychoeducation, parenting skills, one-on-one coaching, behavioral plan development, intervention training, and safety planning. You will work within a family system model with a trauma-informed lens. The therapist will assess for family needs and develop an individualized plan with the family. Interventions can be one time or ongoing to help prevent or reduce concerns related to behavioral and parenting problems within the home.
The position reports to and is supervised by the Cheif Clinical Officer
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Meet with the parents, family, or child(ren) in their home to assess the needs/behaviors of the child and the strengths/needs of the family.
- Work with parents to develop specific goals that acknowledge the child’s unique experiences and help parents implement proven positive strategies.
- Prepare, monitor, and coach families with an individualized plan to meet the needs of the family which can include training, skill building, behavioral plan development, support groups, mentoring, and other services.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Family Support.
- Document interventions and work timely and accurately.
- Gather outcomes data
Knowledge/Skills:
- Understanding of Family Systems and other theories related to family development.
- Be competent in trauma-informed practices.
- Extensive knowledge base of the needs of children who have experienced complex developmental trauma.
- Demonstrated ability to provide empathy, support, and assistance to struggling families.
- Be adoption competent (training available)
- Understanding and ability to work within the Child Welfare System.
- Understanding of the AZ behavioral health system.
- Ability to relate, with a positive, warm and friendly manner to persons of any economic, educational or social level and to persons of any racial, ethnic or cultural background.
- Ability to provide all services in a culturally relevant and linguistically appropriate manner to the varied families and youth who will be part of the program.
- Ability to maintain complete confidentiality at all times.
- Ability to work successfully in a dynamic, fast-pace environment characterized by growth and change.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills to provide adequate and appropriate documentation.

Requirements/Qualifications:
- Must be licensed with AZ Board of Behavioral Health as an independent MFT, LPC, LCSW
- Have at least one year of behavioral health experience with an emphasis in foster care adoption.
- Follow all AASK policies and procedures regarding time and place of work, supervision, reporting, confidentiality, and all other aspects of employment.
- Be able to sit for long periods.
- Must be comfortable using a computer throughout the work day and for all documentation.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
- Minimum of 21 years of age and will need to have a valid Arizona Driver’s License and obtain and maintain proof of auto insurance and car registration.
- Reliable transportation is required for travel to family homes located throughout the Valley as needed. Travel to far locations in Maricopa County and to Pinal County may be required.
- All staff will be screened using a Request for Search of Central Registry for Background Check, a Criminal History Self-Disclosure, and pre-employment drug screen.
- Personal and professional reference checks will be completed
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $38,000.00 - $42,000.00 per year
Expected hours: 20 – 30 per week
