HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE:
Provides leadership, guidance, and direction in achieving outcomes consistent with the mission, vision, and goals of Advocate Health. The DON assumes leadership responsibility for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of clinically effective and efficient systems of care and service within the continuum of care.
Accountabilities:
- Provides enterprise nursing leadership and executes key deliverables within the nursing strategic plan in partnership with various key stakeholders across the enterprise.
- Serves as part of the Enterprise Nursing Leadership team and plays a key role in determining nursing priorities, operational protocols, and manuals to ensure standard operating procedures which are in alignment with Advocate Health Care's goals, objectives, and strategies.
- Develops and implements processes to enable effective planning, execution and reporting of clinical and corporate performance and objectives. Collaborates on key performance indicators for optimal quality and cost containment enterprise wide.
- Responsible for creating, leading, implementing, and monitoring innovative nursing strategies based on data to improve value to our patients/consumers and achieve top decile performance in quality, safety, satisfaction, and financial outcomes.
- Develops enterprise strategies to improve workflow, care delivery, and cost of nursing care.
- Collaborates with multidisciplinary care teams including site and enterprise leaders to prioritize, collaborate, and execute initiatives that align with the enterprise nursing strategic plan.
- Prioritizes key potential enterprise nursing initiatives while maintaining efficiencies and ensuring high reliability as top priority.
- Develops and implements standard policies and procedures to assure effective and efficient nursing operations. Ensures compliance with all regulatory agency standards, i.e., federal, state, city, Accrediting Organization, IDPH, and all hospital policies and procedures, inclusive of agency personnel. Ensures compliance with local, regional, state and national public reporting and other legal requirements.
- Responsible for oversight of Midwest nursing staffing policies and procedures development and implementation.
- Facilitates use of appropriate clinical and health services research findings for patient care quality improvement through development of revised policies, practice guidelines and educational programming in collaboration with enterprise leaders of practice.
- Interprets clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction, HR metrics, financials, team member engagement, and process level data to make recommendations based on the nursing strategic plan.
- Develops innovative strategies to continuously improve results and share best practices across the enterprise.
- Responsible for ensuring hospitals across the enterprise use evidence-based practice to improve care and care delivery in partnership with key nursing practice stakeholders.
- Maintains partnerships with external vendors as applicable to execute strategies and maintain community engagement.
- Collaborates with site executive leadership to provide mentorship to operational nursing leaders and develops future succession plans with consideration of nursing leadership as desirable specialty.
- Demonstrates and promotes self as lifelong learner to promote professional development.
- Provides leadership and develops Regional Float Pool teams for the WI Clinical Staffing Services and Midwest Flexible Staffing Services, coordinated from enterprise level.
- Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which include interviewing and selection of new employees, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, compensation changes, resolution of employee concerns, corrective actions, terminations, and overall employee morale.
- Develops and recommends operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives.
- Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that personal actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations, and laws applicable to the organization's business.
- Responsible for taking an active leadership role in non-profit or community-based organizations by providing community service hours or serving in professional organizations. Also, encourages team members to participate in these same community activities.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
Education:
- Master's Degree in Nursing or related field required.
- DNP Executive Leadership preferred.
Certification/License:
- Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices.
- DNP Executive Leadership preferred.
Experience:
- Typically requires 7 years of experience in nursing leadership or health care administration. Includes experience in leadership in nursing management within a large, complex health care system. Leadership experience should include management of staff, budgets, and multiple nursing functions within a large complex healthcare organization.

Pay: $136,000.00 - $204,000.00 per year
