Summary
The Forklift Operators are an essential part of our distribution network. We are always looking for individuals that are problem solvers with passion for continuous improvement to join our team. The Forklift Operator associates are responsible for operating a forklift to move, stack, band, relocate, and count products and materials. They are also responsible for loading and unloading trucks, maintaining inventory accuracy by performing the following duties:
- Safely, accurately and efficiently load and unload of products
- Use the Transportation Management System (TMS) to select the best shipping mode and freight carrier to ensure products are delivered to customers with the shortest lead time and the lowest transportation cost
- Use the ERP system (Epicor-Prelude) to maintain inventory accuracy and data integrity
- Operate a forklift to move materials within the warehouse or distribution center
- Stack and store products in designated areas
- Perform inventory counts and maintain accurate records
- Inspect and maintain the forklift to ensure it is in good working condition
- Follow safety procedures and guidelines at all times
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors
- Assist with other warehouse duties as needed
- Fork lift operators work outside in the elements and in all weather conditions.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid forklift certification
- Proven experience as a forklift operator
- Ability to lift heavy objects and work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Forklift, telehandler, skid steer, and other heavy machinery experience is preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Constantly:
- Exerting 10 pounds of force to move objects
- Frequently:
- Exerting up to 50 pounds of force
- Stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, and walking
- Talking, hearing, and seeing with close visual acuity
