Objective: To provide a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment in which the children can grow physically, emotionally, socially, and intellectually.
Key Responsibilities:
· Offer a program that meets the education standards detailed in the Objective for both individual and group settings.
· Prepare and maintain a safe, clean, and organized learning environment for children to grow and explore
· Supervise, train, and evaluate Assistant Teachers (and permit them to have input in the program).
· Communicate and collaborate with Assistant Teachers regarding program goals and developments relating to the children, parents, management, and center.
· Attend all staff meetings, training sessions, and extracurricular events.
· Establish and maintain professional communication with parents and organize annual parent-teacher conferences.
· Develop a supportive relationship with each child focusing on safety, cleanliness, and happiness in a learning-through-play environment.
· Interact with children and encourage their involvement in activities.
· Complete and maintain all records and paperwork in an organized manner.
· Inform management of needed supplies or equipment and any inadequacies pertaining to the building or grounds.
· Arrange and conduct class performances and sing-a-longs to showcase to parents.
· Use appropriate and positive discipline with children; train staff so that discipline is consistent.
· Respect and maintain confidentiality of children, parents, staff, and center concerns.
Supervisor:
· Report to the Director or Administrator
· In the absence of the Director or Administrator, report to the Acting Director.
Qualifications:
· Associate degree in Early Childhood, Child Development or related field.
OR
· Child Development Associate Credential or other Office-recognized credential specific to the preschool developmental period and one year of experience related to caring for children.
OR
· 9 college credits in Early Childhood, Child Development or a related field, with a plan of study leading to one of the following and two years of experience related to caring for children.
o Child Development Associate Credential; or
o Other Office-recognized credential specific to the preschool developmental period; or
o Associate degree in Early Childhood, Child Development or a related field
Specifications:
· Relate joyfully and sensitively to children, parents, and staff
· Have evidence of emotional maturity and stability
· Have evidence of proper judgement when handling crisis situations and to use supervision constructively
· Have the ability to competently supervise Assistant Teachers
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: From $16.50 per hour
