AIM House helps young people foster personal responsibility and fulfillment as they transition into adulthood. Our structured living environment and individualized programs are designed for the young adult who is transitioning from residential treatment centers, drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers, wilderness programs, and therapeutic boarding schools. We strive to help each participant build a foundation for independent living by providing thorough, personalized guidance in life skills, recovery and healing, and vocational and academic goals.
The right candidate for this job is interested in working in a therapeutic environment, as well as helping to teach our participants cooking skills through our internship program. This collaborative role requires strong communication skills and the ability to constructively problem-solve.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Chef/Kitchen Manager at the AIM House program
As a Chef/Kitchen Manager for AIM House, you will create menu items from scratch using local, organic and intentionally sourced product. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, resourceful, and collaborative with the ability to work independently. This position requires cooking skill and familiarity with food service production including safety, sanitation and a variety of cooking techniques. In addition to being a well-rounded culinary professional, one must also maintain a disposition that is considerate of a therapeutic environment.
Duties
- Reports to Director of Operations, plus assigned Supervisor
- Prepare 3 daily meals for staff and participants of therapeutic program
- Collaborate on weekly menu
- Lead participant interns in meal preparation
- Uphold the mission and general expectations of the program
- Maintain safety and sanitation of kitchen space
- Receive orders and organize inventory
- Acquire additional product as necessary
QUALIFICATIONS
- 1 year scratch cooking experience required
- 2 years professional cooking experience required
- ServSafe certified required
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Must be able to pass a background check
- Must have a valid driver’s license and clean motor driving history
- Must be familiar or excited to learn about whole foods-based nutrition and dietary restrictions
