POSITION SUMMARY:
The Institute of Culinary Education, Los Angeles Campus, is seeking instructors for its Restaurant & Culinary Management Diploma program. The Restaurant & Culinary Management Instructor will be responsible for teaching classes in conformity with ICE curriculum. Candidates with subject matter expertise needed in one or more of the following areas- concept and menu development, marketing, service management, purchasing, facilities and design, restaurant law, wine and beverage, supervisory management.
Part-time position available.
Class schedules from 7:30am to 11:30am, 12pm to 4pm or 5pm to 9pm available.
Schedule:
- 4-hour classes
- Monday to Thursday
Specific Job Responsibilities:
- Deliver clear, concise and organized lectures as required by the curriculum
- Assess student performance through observation and interaction, along with written and practical examinations
- Maintain a positive, focused learning environment during class
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance
- Attends meetings and faculty orientation as required
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in culinary and/or restaurant management field required
- Restaurant management or culinary degree preferred, but not required
- Must have knowledge of restaurant management, marketing, purchasing, service management, facilities and design, restaurant law, wine and beverage (or any combination thereof)
- Culinary arts knowledge is a plus
- Flexible schedule to accommodate ICE class schedules.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal; strong presentation and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to interact in a collaborative manner with others.
- Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills required
- Working knowledge of Microsoft suite of products including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel
- Must be able to develop and maintain excellent relationships with staff and student population
