Opportunity:
This is an opportunity to join a fast-growing company at the ground level. We are looking for an individual with the ability to prioritize and work in a fast paced environment. Responsibilities include overseeing surgical scrub technician new hire employee training and coordinating all aspects of inventory control of the ambulatory surgery centers. This is a hands-on role for a growing organization. Travel between multiple centers is required. Expected travel is 50-60%.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Oversee the maintenance of surgical scrub technician training program, monitor program effectiveness, and recommend suggestions for improvement.
- Supports surgical scrub technician new hires during their first 30, 60, 90 days to ensure materials are presented in their learning style and their ultimate success.
- Adapt training to various learning styles.
- Keeps abreast of current operational policies and procedures, as well as compliance or regulatory changes.
- Reviews programs to ensure all training materials are current, accurate and relevant.
- Establishes and maintains inventory control. Controls safe minimum par levels and economic reordering of qualities for items ordered and stocked.
- Coordinates the purchasing of items stocked in the facility. Creates and maintains a purchase order system.
- Coordinates the receipt and follow up of orders and applies towards inventory per facility protocol.
- Collects and reconciles packing slips, invoices, and statements for timely payment
- Researches vendors to obtain information as to quality and cost of products.
- Maintains current and accurate surgical instrument and equipment inventory
- Handles all repairs and replacements of instruments and equipment, and maintains records.
- Develops and maintains a record of price increases and decreases to keep in compliance with accounting books and those contracts with the purchasing group(s).
- Gathers month end statistics, produces documentation and reports findings to appropriate personnel.
- Performs work related tasks and projects as required.
- All other duties as assigned.
Candidate Qualities & Qualifications:
- Regulatory Requirements:
- Current surgical technician certificate.
- Current BLS.
- 5+ years of experience as a surgical technician required.
- Previous ambulatory surgery experience is preferred.
- Proficient in computers, relevant software applications, and EHR systems.
- Ability to adapt to the needs of the organization and employees.
- Ability to prioritize requests, problem-solve, and collaborate with others.
- Solid organizational and time management skills.
- Basic research and report preparation skills; ability to summarize information and make succinct recommendations.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, one-on-one and group settings; strong relationship skills.
- Results-oriented, self-motivated individual possessing a strong record of success.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with physicians, patients and the public and be capable of establishing good working relationships with both internal and external customers.
- Detail Oriented, self-motivated, and results-oriented with the ability to prioritize organizational objectives and meet deadlines.
Supervision Received:
Reports to ASC Executive Director.
Typical Physical Demands:
Requires frequent standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time. Requires some bending, stooping, and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity necessary for the operation of basic office equipment. Requires visual acuity and hearing in normal range. Requires the ability to work efficiently under high stress with patients who can be irritable or confused.
Typical Working Conditions:
Work is performed in an office environment. Involves frequent telephone contact with medical staff. Interaction with others is constant and interruptive.
