Under direction of the Site Manager, this position is responsible for providing direct patient care under the direction of the Practice Manager with guidance from the physician(s) in an outpatient clinic, utilizing clinical and cognitive skills. The position must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served.
Essential duties and Responsibilities:
- Adopts and integrates the Company's purpose and values, behavioral philosophy, and quality commitment into all daily activities and attitudes. Performs job duties in a competent manner to promote quality patient care and customer satisfaction, while promoting safety and coast efficiency at the practice(s).
- Assist in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care for patients. Interview patients or relatives to obtain appropriate health history and/or immunization status.
- Document the medical assistant process in the patient’s medical record in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Assist physician with exams and procedures. Perform screening tests.• Administer medications and injections; monitors patients as necessary.
- Communicates with physician relative to patient care.
- Monitor stock, inventory immunization vaccines and re-order supplies and medication as necessary.
- Utilize knowledge of sterile techniques and infection control procedures as required to clean and disinfect rooms and equipment, and sterilize instruments as needed.
- Meet requirements for mandatory continuing education, skill competency, dependability, and productivity of the practice.
- Screen and follow-up on all telephone calls, following approved triage protocols, as well as prescription refills, and returns calls to patients with lab results.
- Interact with physician regarding hospital admissions and consults.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate of an approved school of medical assistant training.
- At least eight years (8) experience in a Family Practice Clinic.
•Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (CPR).
- Knowledge and understanding of HIPAA, PHI and OSHA regulations in clinic setting.
- MUST HAVE A MINIMUM OF 2 YEARS EXPERIENCE WITH ECLINICALWORKS.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to handle multiple demands. Must be able to read English and communicate with patients. May be required to speak a non-English language as required by the individual clinic. Experience operating various office equipment (fax machine, copy machine, etc) helpful. eClinical Works a must!
Working Conditions:
- Work usually performed in a normal office environment.
