Responsibilities:
- Assist the dentist during dental procedures
- Prepare treatment rooms and instruments for dental procedures
- Take and develop dental x-rays
- Sterilize and maintain dental instruments and equipment
- Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-operative care
- Perform patient assessments, including taking vital signs and medical history
- Update and maintain patient medical records and documentation using Epic or similar software
- Assist with dental lab tasks, such as pouring impressions and trimming models
- Provide support to front office staff, including scheduling appointments and managing patient records
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of an accredited dental assisting program preferred
- X-ray certification required
- Experience working in a pediatric dental setting preferred
- Proficiency in medical coding and billing preferred
- Knowledge of CAD/CAM technology for digital impressions a plus
The successful candidate for this position will have excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work well in a team. They must also demonstrate empathy and patience when working with pediatric patients.
