QUALIFICATIONS
- At least two years of college‑level coursework or an Associate’s Degree in education or related field
- Previous teaching experience preferred
- Professional experience in the field preferred
- Knowledge of child growth and development and appropriate classroom practices
- Ability to maintain a positive learning environment
- Works well with students, staff, and the public
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Able to work under pressure and deadlines
- Maintain confidentiality of staff and students
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY TO: Building Principal and Classroom Teacher
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Working with Students
- Maintain high standards and expectations
- Identify pupil needs and provide instruction appropriate to those needs
- Follow modifications and accommodations as specified in Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
- Encourage students to strive to meet their highest potential
- Communicate classroom rules and encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior
Other
- Keep accurate records and maintain individual records for each student
- Attend faculty meetings as required
- Assume responsibility for his or her continuing professional growth and development through such efforts as reading professional journals and other publications
- Seek assistance should emergencies arise
- Represent the school in a positive manner
- Know and follow school policy and chain of command
- Perform other duties as assigned
