On-Site Environmental Project Manager
VMX International a leader in environmental solutions is working with a global provider which oversees and manages Tier 1 Total Waste Management service contracts encompassing an array of in-plant environmental service offerings.
Key Responsibilities:
Environmental Project Manager, oversees the environmental and financial performance of Total Waste and Resource Management Programs. Responsibilities focus on the proper management of all contractor and professional services associated with hazardous and non-hazardous solid wastes as well as in-plant industrial services major emphasis on the creation of cost-saving through the elimination, reduction, and recycling of waste.

- Manage and perform Resource Management Program Technical Specifications.
- Supervise contractors and facility labor providing in-plant waste handling and processing.
- Develop and implement plans and projects focusing on the reduction, reuse, and recycling of waste generated by manufacturing, pollution control, and maintenance operations.
- Coordinate in-plant source separation and processing of recyclable commodities and scrap.
- Ensuring conformance with regulatory standards and company policies governing the proper management of solid waste.
- Coordinate suppliers providing commercial services dealing with the shipment and disposal of solid waste.
- Monitor activities, track data, and prepare comprehensive reports.
- Support ISO 14001 work instructions, multi-media compliance audits, regulatory submittals, workplace safety, employee/contractor training and community outreach.
- Manage contract costs and key performance measures
- Motivate plant personnel & contractors to create waste reduction opportunities that are aligned with resource efficiency.
- Support management systems & deliverables focusing on federal and local regulatory compliance standards as well as the plant's Environmental Management policies and procedures dealing with the proper management of waste and the prevention of pollution.
- Promote the use of new technologies and service solutions focusing on the reduction and reuse of discarded waste, including but not limited to salvageable by-products with economic value, as well as the conservation of energy and water.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Degree preferred in the field related to Environmental Engineering and/or Science and 3-5 years, and experience working in the areas of solid waste management, hazardous waste management, solid waste recycling, environmental compliance, and industrial engineering.
- RCRA/DOT and solid waste.
- Knowledge of environmental legislation and the Department of Transportation.
- Experience with budgeting and strong project management.
- Exceptional communication skills, ability to work in an implementation team environment, supervise train and motivate others.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, above average computer skills.
- Preferred Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM).
