The décor is inspired by the history and culture of New Orleans African diaspora. Our culinary approach is structured based on seasonal products sourced from local small businesses and the fundamentals of cooking techniques. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Barista to join our team at Featuring the Center for Culinary Arts Restaurant. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in a high-volume kitchen environment, exceptional leadership and culinary skills, and the ability to manage and inspire a team of cooks. The Sous Chef will assist the Executive Chef in all aspects of kitchen management, from recipe development and food preparation to inventory management and staff scheduling. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the team to ensure consistent, high-quality dishes and exceptional guest experiences.
Duties and Responsibilities:
-Prepare a wide range of drinks, ensuring all ingredients are prepped and served to the highest standard.
-Manage inventory and ordering of ingredients and supplies and monitor waste and spoilage to ensure profitability.
-Train newly hired fun and enthusiastic employees.
-Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, following health and safety guidelines, and ensuring compliance with food safety regulations.
-Ensure that all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and serviced and report any issues to the Executive Chef.
Requirements:
Minimum of 1 year of experience in a high-volume kitchen environment.
Excellent front counter and beverage skills.
Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a team of kitchen staff.
Knowledge of inventory management.
Ability to work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure consistent, high-quality beverages and exceptional guest experiences.
Understanding of food safety and health regulations, and the ability to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact with kitchen staff, front-of-house staff, and guests.
Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
Participate in staff meetings and training sessions as required.
Ability to thoroughly read, write, and speak the English language.
When required, be able to pass a NYC Health Department Food Certificate Course.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods of time and perform repetitive motions.
Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
Ability to work in a hot, fast-paced kitchen environment.
Tour of Duty
The number of hours a Barista should be expected to work can vary depending on the specific restaurant or establishment, as well as the needs and demands of the job. We are open 7 days a week from 9am to 5pm.
