Position Summary:
Full time (35hrs) compassionate and experienced. Child and Youth Coordinator, Monday through Friday - 9am to 5pm, to oversee, create and implement therapeutic educational and play activities for child, youth and teens while their caregivers engage in services at the Family Justice Center. The Youth Activity Coordinator will have awareness of trauma informed care, Domestic /Intimate Partner/Gender Violence issues, as well as, GLBTQ/gender nonconforming or questioning communities & Communities of color.
Primary Responsibilities:

Oversee the day-to-day operation of the Children and Youth Room, which is open to children and youth of all ages while their parent/guardian receives services at the FJC.

In collaboration with ENDGBV FJC administrative staff, manage the daily flow and capacity of the Children and Youth Room, the registration of children into the Room, facilitate programming including therapeutic age-appropriate play, art and educational activities, and provide parenting information and support.

Under the supervision of the Children and Youth Services Manager, implement programming within the Children and Youth Room for children of all ages who utilize the Room, which will include adjusting the scheduled and informal activities to meet the immediate needs of the participating children, facilitating individual and group play and structured, therapeutic age-appropriate activities among children utilizing the Children and Youth Room, and engaging children and parents/caregivers in activities and encouraging them to utilize available Room resources.

Collaborate with ENDGBV FJC administrative staff to develop and implement procedures and policies regarding the utilization of the Children and Youth Room.

Refer children and youth to onsite counseling at the FJC and inform parents/caregivers using the Children and Youth Room about the counseling program.

Alert ENDGBV FJC administrative staff about high risk or priority cases and provide immediate assistance as needed to FJC clients who have children and are in crisis.

Serve as a resource to clients on how to assist children and youth affected by domestic violence and develop programming for children, youth and families to engage in at the FJCs and/or be connected to in the community.

Provide resources and support to FJC onsite partners in their work with children and youth;

Provide ongoing assistance, coordination and co-facilitation, when appropriate, for all FJC on-site programming for children, youth and families.

Conduct regular inventory of the Children and Youth Room to ensure the availability of all required materials and supplies and maintain the tidiness of the Children’s room.

Regularly participate in staff and partner meetings including team meetings, collaboration meetings for specific disciplines and trainings.

Adhere to Program Provider and FJC confidentiality practices and protocols related to timeliness and appropriate communications.

Perform other related tasks, as determined by the ENDGBV FJC administrative staff.
Secondary Responsibilities:

Collaborate with Counselors on shared clients

Refer clients to appropriate community resources for case management issues/advocacy, e.g. legal, housing, health, education, vocational, entitlements.

Maintain working relationships as needed with educational and other social service agencies.
Administrative Responsibilities:
-
Participate in supervision and interdisciplinary staff meetings

Participate in ongoing professional training for continuing education units and other professional development as mandated by the agency or recommended by supervisor.
Qualifications:

Must have a bachelor’s degree in counseling, social work or psychology.

Must have 1-2 years’ experience working with traumatized children and their families.

Experience with communities impacted by domestic and /or gender-based violence, and culturally competent e.g. LBGTQ affirmative, harm reduction recovery lense and mental health experience.

Bilingual Spanish preferred.
