For our product development laboratory in Devens, MA we wish to hire a Manager - Product Development.
Primary Responsibilities
Oversee all aspects of product development for Impact Nano, including development of syntheses, purification approaches, and packaging. The scope includes all aspects of process chemistry required to support scale up and manufacturing, including safety testing, thermal stability studies, materials compatibility studies, chemical fingerprint analyses, and equipment cleaning chemistries.
Work with chemical metrology experts to guide the development of incoming, in process, and final quality control tests.
Work with the operations and supply chain groups to identify suitable raw material suppliers and bills of materials for high volume production. Guide the performance of qualification tests for new suppliers..
Work with process development and operations teams to transfer chemical processes from the lab to the production environment in our manufacturing facility following our stage/gate process.
Reporting to the CEO/CTO, lead a group of 8-10 chemists and technicians to perform the tasks described above as well as to produce samples for customer evaluation and co-development.
Serve as a role model for safe practices. Implement safety systems in the group and support implementation of safety systems across the company’s facilities.
- Ph.D. in Chemistry or a related field, preferably with experience in organometallic chemistry or process scale up.
- At least five years of experience working in industry, preferably in semiconductor materials
- At least three years of group, team, or project management experience
- New product commercialization experience
- Experience with best practices for lab safety, including hazard analyses
- Experience with scale-up and syntheses of quantities 1 kg / batch or greater
- Experience with distillation, recrystallization, and filtration processes at the kg scale or greater
- Familiarity and experience using common metrology techniques including NMR, GC-MS, FTIR, ICP-MS, TGA, etc.
- Experience working with gasses, vacuum systems, and air sensitive materials / Schlenk techniques
- Familiarity with best practices for intellectual property protection
- Skills in a language other than English are a plus.
