Research Assistant Women's Health

GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
The Division of Women’s Health at Brigham and Women’s Hospital is seeking a Research Assistant (RA) to primarily support 3 Principal Investigators with ongoing research projects. This position is based in Boston, does not include international travel and is for 40 hours per week.
Examples of projects include:
- Implementation of breast cancer screening in Rwanda
- Impact of policy changes on contraception use in the United States
- Equity in breast cancer screening in the United States
- Understanding how sex and gender impacts the metabolome and cardiovascular disease risk
- Risk factors that contribute to ischemic stroke in women
- Understanding the impact of adverse pregnancy outcomes (APOs) predict cardiovascular disease risk
The RA will need to function well in both independent and team settings. They will be expected to ensure that no tasks fall through the cracks, anticipate issues to the best of his/her ability, and be extremely organized. The Principal Investigators will depend heavily on the RA to ensure that projects are not held up for reasons within our control. They must be able to juggle many tasks at once, be able to see tasks to completion, and overcome any administrative delays or barriers. They are expected to be a proactive member of the entire Division of Women’s Health team and a key problem-solver.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate aspects of data collection and data management, working closely with domestic and international collaborators
- Assist with project-related administrative tasks
- Conduct literature reviews and assist in the preparation of presentations and drafting and submission of publications
- Aid in the preparation of documents for IRB submissions
- Assist in analyses of qualitative data (coding and analysis)
- Help prepare grant applications
- Organize group meetings, including setting up conference calls and taking minutes
- Assist in quantitative data entry, analysis, and presentation in abstracts, posters and manuscripts
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree is a must. This is a perfect job for a person considering a career in the health professions.
- Previous research experience, ideally in the health care field.
SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
- Excellent organizational skills, time management skills, and close attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and in team settings
- Ability to work well with collaborators across a range of roles, countries and cultures
- Must have exceptional oral and written communication skills
- Must have experience with literature reviews
- Capacity to organize and manipulate large amounts of data
- Interest in research, public health, global health, health policy, economics, and/or medicine
- Excellent English language (spoken and written) skills
- Familiarity with statistical programming software is a plus
- Prior experience with IRB submissions or grant writing is desirable
