POSITION SUMMARY:
The Research Associate supports the core team of research professionals by providing critical assistance in data collection, analysis, and reporting. Aligned by industry, the Research Associate contributes to the deep expertise and understanding of specific industries and companies within the domain space. The Associate will assist in covering and evaluating companies across assigned industries (healthcare, technology, energy, materials, consumer, etc.). Responsibilities include conducting secondary research, supporting financial analysis, assisting in due diligence on industry trends, company management, and strategies, and preparing research reports and presentations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- As the senior covering associate, provide comprehensive, sell-side equity research coverage of approximately 20 small-cap companies across multiple sectors
- Prepare and publish thorough “initiation of coverage” reports and timely, insightful company updates on an ongoing basis
- Build robust financial and valuation models of covered companies and keep all models relevant and up to date
- Build and maintain strong relationships with the senior management teams of covered companies and other important research contacts
- Perform due diligence on additional companies for research consideration
- Market research and build strong working relationships with buy-side clients
- Respond to inquiries from clients, sales, investment bankers, and capital markets constituents.
- Conduct research and analysis on public companies, including financial statements, industry trends, and competitive landscape.
- Assist in building financial models to support investment recommendations and provide insights into company performance.
- Monitor news and events that may impact the companies under coverage, including macroeconomic trends, regulatory changes, and industry developments.
- Support the creation of research reports and other materials to communicate investment recommendations to clients and other stakeholders.
- Participate in meetings with company management and industry experts to gain additional insights and perspectives.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the equity research team to develop a comprehensive investment thesis.

REQUIRED AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree; MBA and/or CFA a plus
Required Licensure: FINRA licenses 63, 86, and 87.
Required Experience, Skills, and/or Knowledge:
- Strong writing, communication, and financial analysis skills required
- Minimum of two years of experience working as an Equity Research professional in either a sell-side or buy-side capacity
- Experience in building financial models and proficiency with accounting and financial statement analysis
- Strong understanding of financial analysis and modeling techniques.
- Proficiency in financial modeling software, such as Excel, and other financial databases.
- Excellent analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to conduct research and analyze data.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information in a clear and concise manner.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to equity research, including SEC regulations.
WORKPLACE LOCATION
- Our team operates out of our beautiful offices on Madison Avenue in New York City. This role requires daily presence in the office as well as at client offices for meetings, events, etc.
SCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS
- Requires some flexibility in scheduling, such as the ability to work evenings and weekends to meet client deliverables.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
- Requires ability to travel locally by car/public transportation, as well as regular domestic trips involving air travel for multi-night stays.
