The Team You’ll Work With
The Mayor’s Office of Citywide Event Coordination and Management (CECM) is tasked with
coordination and management of all events permitting activity in New York City. CECM gathers and
disseminates information about upcoming and ongoing public events, including gatherings in City
parks, processions/parades, athletic races, street fairs, outdoor concerts, block parties, commercial and
promotional events and filming of motion pictures and television. CECM ensures informed decision-
making by the various permitting agencies, as well as compliance by permit applicants. CECM also acts
as an internal and external resource to the event community on overall event coordination, permitting,
and management. CECM works to enhance communication among various agencies involved in the
issuance of permits. The Street Activity Permit Office (SAPO), a unit within CECM, is responsible for the
issuing of permits for the use of city streets, sidewalks, and pedestrian plazas in all five boroughs for
commercial/promotional and civic events, as well as street fairs, block parties and farmers markets.
The Problems You’ll Solve
Reporting to the Senior Borough Manager, the Borough Manager is responsible for issuing permits,
coordinating with the support permitting agencies and reconciling payments for events. Additionally,
