Where You Will Work:
Clearwater Paper’s Las Vegas facility produces through-air-dried (TAD) ultra-premium bathroom tissue, household paper towels, facial tissue, and napkins for major retail outlets throughout the United States. Boasting over 200 talented employees, the Las Vegas location sits on 23 acres and uses state-of-the-art technology, automation and a variety of equipment such as laser-guided vehicles. Located within the Mojave Desert, North Las Vegas sits just northeast of Las Vegas as the 4th largest city in the state of Nevada. The city offers an extensive park and recreation program including 34 parks that cover more than 475 acres of developed parkland. Recently completed Southern Nevada’s Neon to Nature regional trail system includes 10 miles used for hiking, biking, and leisurely strolls. What you will do:
The Asset Leader in converting is responsible for development of the organization to deliver expected results in safety, environmental compliance, quality, productivity, cost and employee development. This position will assist the Converting Superintendent and the shift supervisors in coverage of the department responsibilities and manage and lead the department in the superintendent’s absence.
Safety
- Responsible for area safety and assist with all area safety efforts. Participate or review all safety incidents and investigate root cause. Ensure follow-up items are completed in a timely manner.
- Help support the behavioural safety program (where applicable) and ensure that safe work practices are followed.
- Lead safety initiatives and provide safety training to ensure safe work practices are followed and enforced.
- Work to eliminate employee interactions with equipment through A&I work.
- Address safety concerns with a strong urgency.
- Ensure environmental compliance.
- EHS Plan participation and completion of assigned task (where applicable).
Quality
- Maintain and improve quality standards for all products produced.
- Ensure Quality checks/line audits happen.
- Support product development activities.
- Lead and support all GMP Audits
- Lead and support product trails.
Production
- Sets objectives and goals for production area through Asset Strategy.
- Ensures the business unit works to standards such as safety and quality.
- Coaches and facilitate losses elimination by using problem solving tools.
- Assures the problems are solved (root cause) and tasks are implemented in a sustainable way, (GSTD, FMEA, RCA).
- Accountable for the business unit operational budget.
- Defines and executes improvement projects and Approval for production area.
- Ensures effective communication and results review through site operational meetings.
Leadership
- Conduct investigations of safety incidents with shift supervisors and hourly personnel.
- Develop team in areas of production, safety, quality, and overall plant efficiency. · Ensure employee compliance with schedules, policies, and procedures.
- Assist in developing and implementing job-specific training program, Qual-card and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
- Support capital budget process.
- Creates an environment oriented to trust, open communication, creative thinking, and cohesive teamwork.
- Assists Shift Supervisor in performance management process of hourly employees in immediate production area, when needed.
- Coaches and develop team members and individuals to assure a sustained leadership pipeline.
- Assists in the motivation and morale of the production area to achieve the expected goals.
- Collaborates with other areas internal and external to the site.

What you will need:
- High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree in management, engineering, or related field preferred.
- A minimum of three years of manufacturing or engineering experience required.
- One year of supervisory experience preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel with ability to learn production related programs. Self-directed and energetic, able to lead and motivate others.
- Knowledge of industry, machinery, equipment, and processes.
- High speed manufacturing environment, sustained exposure to high frequency noises, multiple hours standing, walking on concrete surfaces.
- Personal Protective Equipment required in mill environment.
- Dirt, noise, odor, & temperature extremes.
- Climbing stairs, ladders, and scaffolding
- Exposure to hazardous chemicals used in manufacturing process.

The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience among other factors.
