Duties and Responsibilities:
- This position is for Pre-Med students to gain experience and learn about practicing medicine while working as a Medical assistance
- You will be working closely with a physician who is a former professor of medicine
- Knowledge of Medical office operations & terminology.
- Verifies patient information by interviewing patient, recording medical history, and confirming purpose of visit.
- Prepares patients for examination by taking their vital signs.
- Experience using Electronic Medical Records programs
- Secures patient information by completing and safeguarding medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; and keeping patient information confidential.
- Contacts patients to give them physician’s messages and vice versa.
- If needed, performs tasks of a front desk receptionist (phones, collects fees, checking patients in and out, scheduling)
- Makes phone calls drug prescriptions and refills, lab orders, and doctor referrals.
- Takes care of incoming and outgoing faxes that relates to patient care.
- Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
- Keeps exam rooms and equipment clean at all times.
- Serves and protects the practice by adhering to professional standards; office policies and procedures; and federal, state, and local laws and requirements.
- Excellent attendance record, Reliable, and punctual
- Performs all other tasks that is typically expected from a medical assistant in a private medical office.
