We are seeking an experienced Certified Medical Assistant with an interest to learn in Interventional Radiology that is dedicated to offering exceptional patient care! We are an outpatient surgical center specializing in vascular care surgeries (veins/arteries). The position is for Full Time (>30 hrs per week) with paid time off. At this time, we do not offer health benefits.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Welcomes patients by greeting them, in person or on the telephone.
- Prepares patients for their visit by directing and/or accompanying them to the examining room; instructing them to position themselves for the examination and/or treatment; arranging examining room instruments, supplies, and equipment. Confirming purpose of visit or treatment with patient.
- Facilitates the efficient flow of the patient office visit experience while maintaining high quality and compassionate care.
- While maintaining patient confidentiality, verify patient information by reviewing and/or recording medical history with accurate up-to-date documentation in the electronic medical record system.
- Completes patient records in a timely and efficient manner; recording medications, care plans, treatment, diagnostics, and test results. May require uploading documents to the patient's chart and categorizing these documents appropriately.
- Supports patient care by assisting the provider during an examination and/or procedure; perform basic laboratory tests and collect specimens; disposing of contaminated supplies; sterilizing medical equipment and instruments; authorizing drug refills and diagnostics as directed and approved by the provider; accurately recording vital signs and other diagnostics as necessary; maintaining sterile field.
- Assists with educating patients by providing instructions related to their medication, diagnostics, procedure, and at-home care; answering questions.
- Accurate preparation and administration of medications as directed by the healthcare provider.
- Checking patients in and/or out for their appointments; verify insurance; collecting monies owed (to include copays and past due balances); scheduling appointments.
- Maintaining supplies; inventory stock; ordering supplies and verifying receipt of ordered items.
- Perform administrative and clinical tasks to support healthcare professionals.
- Adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements to serve and protect the health care practice and/or provider.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Certification as a Medical Assistant
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and procedures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Highly organized and flexible
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information
- Ability to be a team player and assist others
Not Required but a Plus:
- Experience operating a C-arm
- First Aid, CPR, and AED Certification
- Bilingual: English and Spanish
- AthenaHealth EMR system
