SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (IT)
We are seeking a Senior Vice President of Information Technology to join our team to develop and execute information strategies, plans and systems implementations that support Ionis’ business strategy to become a fully integrated biopharmaceutical company. This role will lead corporate software platforms, systems, and systems integrations; information technology support and infrastructure; and flow of data across systems while maintaining high standards of quality, security, and privacy in accordance with applicable legislation.
This role requires a forward-thinking, innovative, and strategic leader with a sense of urgency to contribute to the development and execution of Ionis’ current and future information strategy. S/he will be responsible for implementing best-in-class IT processes and systems to support continued growth and expansion. The Senior Vice President is expected to have a hands-on approach in all aspects of the job and demonstrate the highest caliber of professional and personal integrity and ethical decision-making. This position will report to the Chief Financial Officer.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop, propose, and implement information technology and systems strategy in accordance with business strategies and plans
- Develop and maintain effective relationships across departments and maintain clear communications internally at all levels, and with third-party providers
- Develop meaningful analyses and metrics to facilitate discussion and decision-making on overall systems roadmap and project proposals
- Develop and implement creative, cost-effective ways to add benefit to the business through technologies and processes
- Implement informatics best practices consistent with the company’s culture
- Inform/educate business partners on informatics options and impact of department decisions
- Manage outcome and budget of a complex IT project portfolio within established timelines
- Direct large, cross-functional, high-performance teams by recruiting, coaching, developing, leading, and evaluating employees in accordance with Ionis’ Culture and Core Principles
- Develop, maintain, and oversee IT policies, procedures, and SOP’s
- Create and maintain service level agreements with functional groups, contractors, and vendors
REQUIREMENTS:
The successful candidate will possess the following:
- Bachelor of Science degree; Graduate Degree preferred
- 20+ years of related experience including functional informatics leadership, with at least 7 years in a public commercial-stage, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical company
- Successful track record in developing and implementing a long-term informatics strategy
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of emerging technologies, virtual servers, storage and network infrastructure, security solutions and enterprise applications; familiarity with web-based technologies, and hosted offerings, i.e. SaaS, IaaS, and PaaS solutions
- Experience in data center management, financial management, corporate security initiatives, direction for the network/system/application/desktop teams providing service to large numbers of employees and customers
- Ability to effectively provide unbiased, business-driven technology guidance to internal teams, leveraging knowledge of both technology and business processes with a cross-functional perspective
- Proven track record in matrixed management, team building and project resource management
- Hands-on experience with implementing and ensuring regulatory compliance within the Informatics function (Sarbanes-Oxley, CFR Part 11, etc.)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills
- Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient in the following computer systems:
- Microsoft Office Suite, Exchange, SharePoint, etc.
- Various databases, including Oracle, SQL Server
- Microsoft Great Plains, including MRP and inventory modules
- Business applications such as Documentum, Qumas, Trackwise
