Salary commensurate with experience and certifications

Hours are 8am to 6pm most often but these can vary depending on patient volume and emergencies.

Job Description:
Nurses are needed in our retina clinic to lead our entire clinical team because many retinal conditions are associated with underlying medical conditions and so a strong medical background is required. In addition, there are functions within our clinic that require licensed nurses.
This position will report to our Nurse Clinic Director and will have various responsibilities, all of which are vital to the everyday operations of the clinic. One of the most important responsibilities will be overseeing the hiring, training, educating and supervision of the entire clinical staff. Our nurses are the leaders of this entire team and will require strong communication and organizational skills in order to be successful.
Duties
Assist MD during ocular procedures and train new staff accordingly: IVIs, lasers, photodynamic therapy, pneumatic retinopexy
Educate patients on their eye conditions and train staff accordingly
Learn how to collect patient medical histories and train staff accordingly
Evaluate and record visual activity and ocular functions
Administer medications: epinephrine, benadryl, Fluorescein & indocyanine green dye
Perform angiograms and ultrasounds on patients
Triage and delegate management of patient communications - both while they are in and out of the clinic
Ensure that patients are directed through their appointments time efficiently
Proof charts for all new patient, follow up patients (every 3 months), and PRN patients before they are sent to referring doctors
Ensure that all prescriptions are sent and documented
Supervise clinical staff
Schedule clinical staff daily to ensure we are adequately staffed to take care of patients
Manage clinical staff time off requests
Interview candidates for the Grassi Retina Gap Year Internship (GRGYI) each year
Meet 1-on-1 with each clinical staff
Work with Office Manager to order medical supplies
Conduct and manage clinic flow
Manage equipment maintenance and service
Manage Daily Staff-to-Patient Clinic Ratios
Manage and assign On-Call days for clinical staff
Requirements:
RN with an active Illinois license
Previous experience helpful but not necessary. We will train from the ground up to our specifications.
Applicants must be detail oriented, highly professional, and exhibit excellent communication skills and attendance record.
