Job Title: Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist/Teacher (Virtual 1:1 Sessions)
Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate teacher of the deaf/hard of hearing to join our team. Our practice serves children with hearing loss in general education classrooms, Kindergarten-5th grade. The ideal candidate will be responsible for: 1) targeting IEP goals in virtual sessions through engaging teaching strategies, 2) collaborating with teachers to ensure accommodations are in place, and 3) ensuring hearing assistive technology is integrated into the school day.
Responsibilities:
- Experience providing effective & comprehensive virtual services for students with hearing loss enrolled in general education classrooms
- Effective communication and consultation with IEP teams (staff+parents) remotely via phone call, text, email, and zoom meetings
- Collaborate with team members performing assessments/observations in person
- Understanding of remote microphone technology set up and troubleshooting
- Draft IEP documentation and attend IEP meetings
- Assessment of listening, literacy, language, and self-advocacy skills for K-5 students
Qualifications:
- California Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist Clear Credential
-Professional Liability Insurance
- Zoom for Healthcare (HIPPA compliant) account
- Spanish speaking preferred
- Experience teaching on a virtual platform
- Experience with planning engaging lessons/activities to target IEP goals via a virtual platform
- Excellent communication skills and willingness to collaborate with special education staff who are on site
- Familiar with assessments for literacy, listening skills, self-advocacy
- Willingness to ask questions and reach out for support when necessary
This position offers teachers an opportunity for auditory verbal educator certification mentoring. Additionally, an experienced deaf/hard of hearing teacher will be available as a resource and support throughout the school year.
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $60.00 - $70.00 per hour
