POSITION: Healthcare Assistant Instructor
Division: School of Health Science
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine (9) months
COMPENSATION: Salary commensurate with education and experience

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Classroom teaching on campus, and off campus clinical instruction. Responsibilities include but are not limited to teaching theory and clinical, curriculum planning, implementation, and evaluation in coordination with other faculty, commitment to continuing education and clinical competency, participation on committees, and participation in academic advising.
JOB SUMMARY
- The HCA Instructor will provide instruction within the Healthcare Assistant Program at Jones College
- Must be current and competent in the Nursing Assistant Scope of Practice and core curriculum objectives included in all courses.
- Demonstrate organizational skills- responsible for instructing courses and correlating laboratory exercises including clinical instruction and evaluation.
- Communication skills are essential. Must be able to motive and inspire students.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide instruction that covers the curriculum for the HCA classes at Jones College.
- Prepare instructional materials, deliver instruction, evaluate, and record student progress in relation to achieving the objectives and learning outcomes of the course.
- Adhere to times scheduled for class sessions.
- Prepare, maintain, and submit accurate student and class records in accordance with Jones College policies and procedures.
- Work cooperatively with others.
- Evaluate inventory of instructional materials and equipment and advise the HCA Program Coordinator and/or college administration on related needs.
- Maintain license and certification as required.
- Provide clinical supervision at varied times and places and in varied formats based on student demand at any approved clinical site.
- Support the college’s mission, including commitment to providing opportunities to students without regard to race, sex, age, income, religion, disability, or occupation.
- Assure compliance with program expectations.
- Support program outcomes.
- Perform student evaluation and use continuous quality improvement techniques to determine the effectiveness of instruction and student achievement.
- Identify students needing assistance, aid and/or refer as needed.
- Prepare and update the course syllabus.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- EDUCATION: Associates In Nursing (ADN)
- WORK EXPERIENCE:
- TWO (2) years of RN nursing experience, one (1) year RN experience working in a nursing home
- Must have completed a course in teaching adults, or have experience in teaching adults or supervising nurse aides
- LICENESE & CERTIFICATIONS:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Mississippi
- BLS CPR Certified
- REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:
- Must be current and competent in the Nurse Aide Core Curriculum Objectives included in assigned teaching.
- Meets all MS Health employment requirements including 2 step TB skin test & Background Check, with these updated at least yearly.
- Posses’ strong RN clinical skills with the ability to supervise and motivate students.
- Ability to teach to a variety of learners and abilities.
