Position Summary
The job is based in Lafayette, IN. This is a full-time, permanent position. Days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.. Travel is not required for this role.
Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Electronic Technician to join our team. The Electronic Technician will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electronic equipment and systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Tests, calibrates, and repairs electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, and electronic equipment and instruments.
- Checks manufactured products for conformance to established standards and assists in formulating calibration standards and procedures.
- Troubleshoots electronic devices to the component level using standard test equipment.
- Analyzes the function of circuits and electronic equipment utilizing electronic schematics and component datasheets.
- Inspects components and electronic equipment for defects.
- Assembles and calibrates instruments and electronic equipment.
- Measures parts, components, and manufactured products for conformity to specifications.
- Interacts with and assists production assemblers to ensure product quality.
- Answers customer questions regarding use and repair of products.
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes)Education/Licenses/Certification
- Two-year degree (minimum) in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent training or experience.
Preferred Experience
- Electronics education or experience with an emphasis on digital and analog circuit analysis and troubleshooting.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, datasheets, operating and instruction manuals, technical checkout procedures, work instructions and other technical documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form with production personnel, professional staff, and customers.
- Demonstrated ability in basic math, the ability to use and convert units of measure, and the ability to calculate common electronic values such as current, voltage, power and gain.
- Demonstrated ability to use common bench tools and electronic measurement tools such as multi-meters and oscilloscopes.
- Demonstrated proficiency in hand soldering and the use of circuit board repair tools.
