Position Details:
The Opportunity:
As the front-end developer, you will report to the web development director and be responsible for designing and implementing attractive and functional websites for Washington State University (WSU). As part of the University Marketing and Communications (UMC) team, you will design and build websites in WordPress as well as provide technical support for the university's WordPress Platform.
As part of the university's central web team, you will support WSU's brand marketing efforts, as well as aid in the production of assigned priority web projects and provide consultation to other WSU web developers and web coordinators across the university, as needed.
The selected candidate will possess a keen understanding of accessibility, a passion for team building, and a commitment to creating a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment.
This position may be eligible for remote work.
Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Communication, Media, Graphic Arts, or IT with web design coursework. OR Three years of progressive professional experience in web design including accessibility requirements, mobility compatibility, User Centered Design methodologies, social media, search fundamentals, usability testing, surveys, and content management systems. OR Portfolio demonstrating progressive professional experience in web design including accessibility requirements, cultural diversity, mobility compatibility, User Centered Design methodologies, social media, search fundamentals, usability testing, surveys, and content management systems.
- Demonstrated experience designing and building sites in WordPress

Proficient coding with HTML, CSS/SCSS and JavaScript.

Working knowledge of web content accessibility guidelines and experience applying them in web design.

Experience creating websites from design files.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Experience communicating technical information to nontechnical audiences.

Experience with Adobe Photoshop and other web design/prototyping tools.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Google Analytics or comparable web analytics software.

Experience creating creative briefs, scopes of work, and setting timelines.

Proven ability to write and review web documentation.

Ability to train clients to use their WordPress websites.

Monthly Salary:
$5,370 - $7,226 | Range 58 Steps A - M | Successful candidates typically begin at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28
