SUMMARY OF DUTIES
The Summit Center - 2023 and 2024 School of Excellence, as named by the National Association of Special Education Teachers (NASET)
To take an active role in the education and training of assigned student as mandated through Individual Education Plan (IEP) objectives, within the classroom and in the community. You maybe assigned to work with other students in the classroom or another classroom as needed.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
Reports directly to the classroom Teacher.
- The Teacher Aide assists the teacher with reinforcing academic goals.
- The Teacher Aide will have an understanding and knowledge of students’ instructional goals and assist with monitoring student progress as outlined by the classroom teacher.
- The Teacher Aide will consistently utilize proactive strategies when interacting with students. improvements when needed. He/ she will demonstrate a willingness to make changes, such as working in another classroom or with another student. The Teacher Aide will participate in gym, swim, and related services areas, supporting the student and reinforcing Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals as developed by specific instructors. Maintain communication between specials and the classroom while supporting carryover of skills.
- The Teacher Aide will attend all mandatory in-services and training sessions and participate in professional development activities that contribute to the profession. In addition, staff must maintain current certification in Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention – Revised (SCIP-R) and CPR.
- The Teacher Aide will complete documentation, daily tracking and other paperwork accurately, in a timely manner and with minimal assistance, including computer-based documentation on Therapy as required.
- Physical agility and ability to react to emergency situations, including Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention – Revised (SCIP-R) certification as per regulatory guidelines.
- Responsible for ensuring that confidentiality is strictly maintained as required by law and Agency policy.
- Responsible for securing and protecting personal and agency related data by adhering to the Agency’s computer security policies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Schedule: Must be available from 8:15 AM- 3:30 PM
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 per hour
